Linking up information to make the world a better knowledge space: A Dialogue with Ian Piper

March 11, 2021 by Teodora Petkova

Text and the Semantic Web have been part of enquiry for understanding human communication for quite a long time now. Questions about content, graphs, organisational change and the Yay! :) of the URI are always at the back of my mind when I explore how content on the Web is ideated, created and managed. Our Private and Public Lives: An Allegory of Our Connection With Data

December 27, 2020 by Teodora Petkova

In 2015 sociologist and philosopher Zygmund Bauman gave a presentation called From Privacy to Publicity in which he talked about the importance of privacy and the concerns regarding the lack of it. Bauman highlighted the need for a personal time were we could be alone with ourselves, and allow things in our head to mature,Continue Weaving

The Data-Centric Future Is Here, It Is Just Not Evenly Distributed: A Dialogue with Alan Morrison

November 12, 2020 by Teodora Petkova

What is that thing that bridges together content, data and knowledge? Could it be that taking a data-centric approach towards managing company’s data has little to do with tools and technologies and a lot more to do with mindset? What stops enterprises from walking the Semantic Web talk? And last but not least, isn’t machineContinue Weaving

My Brave New Text

Being Dialogic (2022)

In Being Dialogic I explain why the key to successful content on the Web is being dialogic, sharing my PhD research and professional practice related to marketing communication on the Web and its dialogic orientation. The book aim is to allow for broader perspectives on the processes of creating web content which take into account the idea of marketing as managing knowledge and of content writing as creating digital object, enriched with metadata.

The Brave New Text (2017)

The Brave New Text  is a book about web writing and how it transforms the way we communicate, exchange, experience and explore thoughts, ideas, goods. It is a kaleidoscope of perspectives through which you will see texts on the web, as new forms of textuality, as webs themselves, as processes that change us, word by word, link by link.

The Brave New Text consists of essays on writing for the Semantic Web as well as practical tips for creating connected and connecting texts.

The book’s website is The Brave New Text  and it features excerpts from the book together with thoughts and advice on web writing to help you weave your own web of words on the Web of People. Use it for inspiration, guidance and practical advice.
